Sticky Chicken Wings

Yield: about 17 wings

Ingredients:

  • 3 pounds chicken wings
  • 2 tablespoons cornstarch
  • 1 tablespoon sesame seeds
  • 2 tablespoons chopped fresh cilantro leaves

For the sauce

  • 1/3 cup soy sauce
  • 1/3 cup balsamic vinegar
  • 1/3 cup brown sugar
  • 1/4 cup honey
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon Tabasco
  • 1 teaspoon ginger powder
  • 1 teaspoon ground pepper
  • 1/2 teaspoon onion powder

Directions:

  1. Whisk together ingredients for the sauce.
  2. Place wings into a slow cooker.
  3. Pour sauce over wings and and gently toss.
  4. Cook on low heat for 3-4 hours or high heat for 1-2 hours.
  5. Whisk together cornstarch and 2 tablespoons water.
  6. Add mixture to the slow cooker and stir.
  7. Cook on high until the sauce has thickened (10-15 minutes).
  8. Line a baking sheet with foil and add wings.
  9. Broil until caramelized and slightly charred (2-3 minutes).
  10. Garnished with sesame seeds and cilantro and serve.
